Petunia Ibiza, a Beaumier Hotel

Carrer de Sa Pala Marina, 07830, Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Ibiza, SpainWebsite
A long pool on a terrace of pink crazy paving, facing Es Vedrà across the water, and a rooftop bar for watching the sun set over the rock.
The rooms at Petunia with Es Vedrà in view are the smaller ones: a Deluxe runs to 28 to 31 square metres, and a Deluxe Es Vedrà gives a few of them up for a balcony facing the rock, which is the trade to make. The hotel sits on a clifftop above Cala Carbó, on Ibiza's south-west coast, and is arranged around that view, with the pool facing the rock and the roof watching the sun set over it. Atelier Saint-Lazare, the hotel says, did the rooms in a seventies manner, with white walls and raw wood. Juan Masedo reworked the gardens with olive trees and rosemary, and kept a vegetable garden for Los Olivos, the lunch restaurant. The pool is long and very blue, on a terrace of pink crazy paving, with a row of white parasols and nothing past the rail but the sea.
Recommended for couples who want Ibiza's quiet side, and for families: children under thirteen stay free, the Family Suite has two bedrooms, and a small kids' club sits beside the pool. The grown-ups get the roof, where La Mirada is adults only and pours cocktails from six, in time for sundown. Several mornings a week bring yoga or sound healing, e-bikes go out at €15 an hour, and reception books private boats. Cala Carbó is about ten minutes' walk along paths, a cove 60 metres long with an old fishermen's pier. Breakfast is a buffet at La Mesa d'Es Vedrà, facing the rock, and dinner there is Baltasar Rigo's Mediterranean cooking; he trained under Albert Adrià. Petunia opens from April to October, and the rest of the year Es Vedrà goes back to being everyone else's view.
