Calle Nuno Sanç 7-10, Sant Antoni de Portmany, 07820, Ibiza, SpainWebsite
Two pools above Cala Gracio: the big one, among the largest on Ibiza, has the DJ and no children, and the other has the children and the bean bags.
Oku Ibiza opened in 2019 as Casa Cook Ibiza, a Thomas Cook hotel, and has outlived Thomas Cook: new owners reopened it under its present name in 2021. It stands in the hills above Cala Gracio bay, a kilometre from the centre of Sant Antoni, in long blocks by MG&AG Arquitectos wrapped in timber slats, with shutters that fold back from the windows. Inside, the slats set the colours: pale floors, a wooden bed, woven chairs and linen at the glass. Alongside runs the main pool, timber-decked, with loungers under thatched parasols and palms beyond. It is adults only, with a DJ through the day. The second pool, for families, settles for bean bags.
Recommended for couples who like a pool with a soundtrack, and for families whose children are old enough to live in the water: there is no kids club, though babysitting runs to about €25 an hour. Which room to book is a choice between a view and a pool. Rooftop Rooms, on the top floor, look out to the sea and the sunset or back over the countryside; Swim-up Rooms give up the view and open straight onto a shared pool terrace. Yoga and meditation are on every day and included, for anyone who would rather not spend it with the DJ. Teyo, the Nikkei restaurant, opens for dinner only, under Mark Vaessen, once of Sushisamba. Cala Gracio's sand is five minutes' walk downhill and Cala Gracioneta, facing the sunset, ten. The walk back up is the only hard work in the day.
