Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel
££Recommended by friends and by publications we trust. We have not stayed yet; it is high on our list.
Avenida Es Calo 64-70, Sant Josep de sa Talaia, 07829 IbizaWebsite
Mid-century Miami redone in pink on Ibiza's San Antonio Bay, from the round bar on the pool deck to the Smeg fridge in every suite.
In the lobby at Paradiso is a room with walls made entirely of glass, and the hotel will let someone sleep in it for nothing, with the lobby looking in. The rest of the time the Zero Suite takes art installations, DJ sets and podcasts, which is the hotel in one room: a building meant to be looked at, with something always on. Ilmiodesign drew on mid-century Miami, and turned the colour up all the way. The pool bar is round and pink under a two-tier roof, after the Art Deco of Ocean Drive, on a white deck edged in pink, with white cabanas along the pool. Some of the suites are pink from the tiled floor up, with tree-trunk stools and a curved pink desk, and every one has a Smeg fridge and a Marshall speaker, and is named after a contemporary artist.
Recommended for a group of friends who have come to Ibiza for colour and company, and want plenty of both before the night starts. There are two pools, and Andy's, the restaurant, sits indoors and out and does healthy and vegan dishes, with treats for anyone not counting. Between Paradiso and Grand Paradiso, Venice Bay Court puts on live music and food trucks and keeps a half-pipe for skating. The beach at Cala de Bou is a short walk. Guests praise the pink rooms and the pool deck, and describe a crowd of hen parties and girls' trips. Children are not allowed. Dogs up to 10 kg are, and stay free when booked on the hotel's own site, so a dachshund can come and a ten-year-old cannot.
